Eat Local NZ - Our Pledge
New Zealand have asked for a Go Fund Me page after our recent issues (social post here’s).
I wasn’t sure about asking for money from Kiwi’s who are already doing it tough. But I cannot ignore the passion out there to support a business with our social values.
Support from Kiwi’s could mean we don’t need to compromise our values to work with traditional businesses focussed on profit alone. Therefore, I offer an opportunity for New Zealand to unite to create something new together via this Eat Local NZ Pledge:
You pledge that you will Eat Local and Support Local starting by:
1. Registering as a customer at www.eatlocal.co.nz;
2. Promising to support Eat Local NZ venues when we relaunch;
3. Contribute only if/what you can afford via this page.
I pledge in return that I, Tim McLeod, will dedicate everything I have, relaunch Eat Local NZ, and never compromise on these values:
- Put people before profits
- Collaborate with other businesses over competing
- Always be transparent with NZ, even if it damages me personally
- Stick to our 5% fee and never increase it
- Never sell out to a corporate onshore or offshore
- Consult and co-design this business with NZ together
- Our mission will always be to make New Zealand better
- Support all venues/communities not just the large ones
- Unite small businesses in a collective that can negotiate better prices and terms
I vow now, and expect to held accountable by New Zealand, that if I ever compromise on these values I will handover all value I hold in Eat Local NZ to New Zealand base charities.
