Garrett Burch Eagle Scout Project: Music Shelves

Donation protected

Hi! My name is Garrett Burch. I am working toward Eagle Scout—the highest rank in Boy Scouts of America!

This is the fundraising effort for my Eagle Project: a community-service-based project required for a Boy Scout to attain the rank of Eagle.

My Eagle Project is going to be a set of rolling shelves for sheet music. These shelves will be in the band room at Roswell High School. These will provide the band room with almost 250 feet of linear shelf space.  More than four times what is available currently. This should be more than enough to store all of the music for years to come.

Our current music room shelves are at capacity.  There is little to no room for more music without throwing existing music away. With the new shelves, the amount of shelf space will increase from about 70ft to almost 250ft, giving the room much more functional use and on top of everything, it will look a lot nicer with the solid wood shelving instead of the current metal shelving.

Band has been very impactful in my life both in the friendships I’ve made, and in the life skills it has taught me. I would love to leave a beautiful set of music shelves for the band room to use for years into the future.

Each shelf unit will cost about $400, and we are building six units. An extra $200 will be needed for supplies needed to support my workdays, like lunch for everyone that comes to help.  The labor will be provided by Scouts from Troop 431, my family, and friends.
