Steven Martinez

Hi, my name is Yesenia Martinez and I’m fundraising for Steven, my little brother. He recently has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, bone cancer, and he is only 13 years old.

He is not only the sweetest brother in the world, but he is also my best friend. He is a straight A student, musician, and devout Catholic. He is interested in sciences and math. He plays the saxophone in his middle school band. He also plays the guitar and piano. He sings in the church choir since he was 8 years old. He loves spending time in the kitchen with our mom and watching Gordon Ramsey.

He had been complaining about pain and his arm going numb. My mom took him to the pediatrician and they sent him to the orthopedic. They then sent him to weeks of physical therapy. He went back to the pediatrician and was sent back to the orthopedic. They did an X-ray and could see that there was a mass on his rib cage but did not see it as emergent. My little brother has been complaining about the pain and discomfort for a while to the point he would lose sleep at night with a fever and my mom had to stay up with him to make sure he was okay. She was tired on waiting for results and took him to the hospital. The next morning he was transferred to MUSC Children’s hospital and stayed there for biopsy’s and tests. They found that it was osteosarcoma, which is prevalent in children and young adults. The doctor says that he will need chemotherapy. We have to pay for the treatment and hospital bills on our own. My mom is the only source of income while I am in college. If y’all could find it in the kindness of your hearts to donate and share that would be greatly appreciated.
