Rebecca's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Over the past week we have all seen parts of our worlds screech to a halt with schools closing and events cancelled. In the midst of the unknown the Campbell family has had an unfortunate blow that we are still working to find meaning behind and create a future for our daughter, sister and Mamma.

On Thursday March 5th Rebecca, the girl that never stops, was in a tragic accident that has forced a kind of halt that no one can comprehend.  Rebecca was in a head on collision and was ejected from her vehicle. The injuries sustained from the accident are substantial and have left her in critical condition at the Renown Hospital in Reno Nevada.

As the days have turned into a week and the threat of COVID-19 increases, family and friends are no longer able to visit Rebecca in the hospital but we are incredibly thankful for the nursing staff in Reno who are giving us daily updates and pictures. We are proud of Rebecca's strength.  And though she remains unresponsive we are seeing physical responses to pain, the desire to open her eyes, occasionally a tear and today the nurses got a hint of a wave! Over the past week Rebecca has improved by initiating her own breath and now is able to breath room air for short periods of time during the day.  That strength she has always had just gets stronger. She is now able to sit assisted with the help of just one and not 3 medical staff. And her coloring and swelling continue to go down. Rebecca is on the mend!

Rebecca's Road to Recovery however is going to be long. Outside of the medical attention she is currently getting we know that long term therapy will be needed. It is anticipated that walking, speech and vision will be impaired due to the brain injury Rebecca sustained. The costs involved in this feel insurmountable when we look down this long road. Rebecca was excited to have just started as a new Safety Coordinator at a local mining company in Nevada. Unfortunately her time in the position was less than 2 months and insurance coverage had not yet gone into effect. We anticipate that Rebecca will now be unable to work for quite some time. This means the care for her son, the apple of her eye, Carson is also being evaluated.

We will continue to update as often as possible as Rebecca continues to take baby steps toward her recovery.

Many people have reached out asking how they can help. Unfortunately this is a waiting game as we learn something new each day.  Thoughts, prayers and any donation toward Rebecca's medical care are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for you love and support.
