Hi, my name is Jessica, and as my nanny’s third anniversary approaches, I’ve decided to fundraise for dementia in her memory. Growing up, my nanny and I were extremely close. Me and my cousin’s spent so much time with her, creating amazing memories. However, when she developed dementia the disease overshadowed her true self. My nanny who once could have seen me in a crowd full of people didn’t even recognise me.

Dementia doesn’t just affect those who are diagnosed; it affects everyone who loves them. Today, 1 in 3 people born in the UK are expected to develop dementia in their lifetime, but tragically, we still don’t have a cure. In my nanny’s memory and to raise some money for research I will be climbing Slieve Donard at the end of this month. If yous have any spare pounds to donate everything will be appreciated.
