My name is Derec Stanislav and I am a Texas Country Singer/Songwriter from Cypress, Texas. I graduated from Texas A&M in 2011 and am currently attending medical school in Florida. I have been afforded the incredible opportunity to record my CD "College Days" with Jason Aldean and Jamey Johnson's Studio band at Red Ridge Entertainment in Nashville, TN (I have attached a letter from the President of Red Ridge Entertainment). However, with being in medical school, the financial aspect of this opportunity is the only part holding me back. I have always been an independent person and it has always been hard for me to ask for help, especially financially. I have talked to several friends who have used GoFundMe and their success stories have led me to start my own page to help cover the costs.
My road to becoming a country musician was never actually planned, it was honestly a happen of circumstance. I have also had a passion for music, playing several instruments and singing while growing up, but I never truly realized how much music was a part of my life until my senior year of college. Within a couple months of each other, my grandmother and mother both became seriously ill with rare, debilitating diseases and I needed a way to cope with the stress. I attribute most of my musical ability to my grandmother who was an amazing singer when she was younger, but she also taught me the therapeutic role of music. Country music became my coping mechanism. I began teaching myself to play guitar, learning cover songs, and writing music and eventually started playing at bars in College Station, Tx.
I have been writing music, playing guitar, and singing for the past four years now, and I have to say that there's no better feeling than being on stage and making people smile. I have been blessed with a talent that I would love nothing more than to share with people, and being abe to record my CD in Nashville would be an absolute dream come true. If you can find it in your hearts to help me out, no matter how big or small a donation, I will be forever indebted to you and it will mean more to me than you wil ever imagine.
