Beth-Anne victim of a drunk driver

Donation protected
On January 20, 2014 at around 10:30 AM my sister, Bethanne Gregory, was on her way to work when she was hit head on by a drunk driver. The accident required the Jaws of Life to remove her from her mangled car and she was left with two shattered ankles, a broken pelvis, and a broken hand. She was rushed to the ICU where she had to receive emergency surgery to save her legs and then was placed in a medically induced coma for several days. She spent a week in ICU where she received several more surgeries and then was moved to a nursing home for over a month while recovering from her injuries.

Bethanne has not only suffered immensely in a physical sense, but has suffered severe emotional and financial distress as well. And on top of that, her road to recovery is far from finished. Almost 9 months after the accident and 6 surgeries later, she is still unable to stand for any length of time without suffering immense pain. She will also require future surgeries on her ankles and will likely never be able to walk the same again. At the age of 27, this is a hard truth to face.

Through all this, Bethanne has shown nothing but courage and strength. Her positivity in the face of this nightmare of a situation has truly been an inspiration. She is the mother and supporter of an amazing 9 year old son who adores her and has suffered emotionally right alongside her. She continues to be an amazing and loving mom, daughter, sister, and friend despite all the hardships she has encountered, by no fault of her own.

It was later found out that the driver of the car that hit her, who managed to walk away from the accident unharmed, was not only drunk, but was also high on oxycodone and three other substances ,claimed to have no recollection of hitting Bethanne’s car. He was also underinsured at the time and living with his mother with no money or assets of his own. Needless to say, she was able to collect very little from him and his insurance. On top of that, she was recently denied to disability and must wait up to 18 month get a hearing to contest this decision. The state is offering her absolutely no immediate support, despite the fact that her injuries were in no way her own fault. With a 9 year old little boy who just started a new school year to support, mounting medical bills, household bills, and general cost of living expenses Bethanne is suffering financially and, while our mother is doing her best to provide for Bethanne and her son during this trying time, the financial strain has become too much.

Here’s where you come in:

We ask for any support you can give to help relieve some of her financial burden-there is no amount too small. Thank you so much for reading Bethanne's story and considering helping out a family in need.
