Sheila Crowley is well known in Chicago Irish Community circles for her love of all things Irish.  She is deeply immersed in the culture and traditions of Ireland - the land of her forefathers.   Her grandparents were Irish Immigrants.    It is because of this love of her culture that she and her sister Mary Beth became icons of the community - known for attending any and all events worth attending on the Irish Social Calendar.  Social Butterflies is what you might call them.  In later years, when Sheila's sight deteriorated, as a result of a degenerative eye condition that left her legally blind, the two could still be seen at all the various events, Sheila being aided along by her sister Mary Beth.  The diagnosis did not slow Sheila down too much and it certainly didn't change her sunny disposition or quick since of wit and wonderful sense of humor.   Sheila grew up on the North West Side and attended Resurrection Hight School and northeastern Illinois University and enjoyed a successful career in the travel industry which nurtured her love of travel and brought her to places all over the world.   Sheila served on the board of the Young Irish Fellowship Club for a period and up to quite recently on the Chicago St. Patrick's Day Committee and the St. Patrick's Day Queen Contest Committee.   When Sheila and Mary Beth's voices came over the airwaves of the various Chicago Irish Radio Shows - you knew that St. Patrick's Day was right around the corner.    When it comes to supporting events be it a fundraiser, concert or other event, Sheila Crowley was often first in line to buy tickets, donate money and attend the events.   In February 2019, Sheila suffered a fall that resulted in a spinal cord injury.   The injury resulted in paralysis of both the legs and hands.  She is now confined to a nursing home where she requires 24-hour care.    Covid restrictions meant no visitors for Sheila for a long period and more recently limited visitors for short periods outdoors.   The lack of a suitable comfortable chair for Sheila's condition took all the goodness out of these visits.    Please help improve the quality of Sheila's life by supporting this campaign to acquire a suitable chair and the therapy necessary to get Sheila back on her feet.  Throughout all of this Sheila has remained in high spirits and is optimistic about the future.  She still retains her quick wittedness and her sense of humor and continues to have a strong interest in the Irish community and the activities of her friends and family!   Irish Community events will not look the same without the Crowley Sisters - so let's get Sheila back by giving her the help she needs.  Please support today. Thanks.
