Bentley's Cancer Treatment Fund

As many of you know, we have been through a lot within the past couple of weeks. Bentley started out not really wanting to eat and acting lethargic. After 6 vet visits, multiple antibiotics, x-rays, two blood work tests, anti-nausea shots, lymph node biopsies, specialist consults, hours of worry/tears, steroids, and $1,000 later, we found out that he is fighting stage III Lymphoma. 
 
After speaking to a veterinarian oncologist last week, considering his health, age, and how he is already responding positively to steroids, he is a perfect candidate for chemo. While the steroids suppress the cancer symptoms, it does not kill the cancer itself and will gradually begin to be less and less effective. If we keep him on the steroids alone, we are looking at a survival rate of weeks. With chemo, it is likely that he will go into remission for years. For this reason, we have decided to proceed with chemo.

Lymphoma is thankfully not a painful cancer but just makes their lymph nodes swell, (like when our glands swell when we are sick) and they are lethargic with little to no appetite. Quality of life for Bentley is extremely important to us as well as his oncologist; who assured us
that dogs respond much more positively to chemo than humans. Dogs receiving chemo do not experience fur loss, but may feel icky for a few days, lethargic, and have less of appetites.

Chemo treatments are of course not cheap. If you are able to donate any amount, even if it is $1, we would greatly appreciate it. Bentley has been such an important part of our lives and I can't imagine a day without him. Bentley will begin his first round of chemo on Tues, 7/11. We will keep you updated throughout his journey ahead.
