Marley is literally the BEST dog ever and she urgently needs your help!
Marley came to live with us after a very rough start to life.
We met Marley while volunteering at the Hinton SPCA, where we learned that she had spent six months in the shelter and waiting to be adopted after her first owner passed away. I’ll never forget the car ride home from the SPCA to Grande Cache after we adopted her. We stopped for McDonalds to eat on the car ride home and Deliah leaned over to pick something up off the car floor, causing her to unknowingly place her McChicken in front of Marley’s mouth. Marley leaned over and took the most delicate bite out of that McChicken. Deliah cried and I laughed so hard that I had to pull over on the highway. Deliah had a lot to learn about having a pet.
Despite Marley’s rough first year, she has been the most amazing dog I’ve ever met. Marley was quickly certified as a pet therapy dog with the Northern Alberta Pet Therapy Society and donated her time to reading with kids all over Alberta. Marley loves people, belly rubs and treats. In 2017, Marley was viciously attacked at the Stony Plain dog park. However, Marley never gave up and fought for her life which speaks to her determined spirit. Since that attack she has retired from pet therapy and lives a quiet life at home.
At Marley’s last vet appointment, a large mass was discovered in her abdomen. X-rays and blood work cost over $500 but gave us hope that the mass could be removed! The next step is an ultrasound and aspiration of the lump which comes to a $1000 cost. Then if the lump can be removed, the surgery will cost around $1500.
I know that this is a financially difficult time of year for some people, but I am begging you to please consider giving to this cause. Marley is the sweetest dog and has fought so hard to be here. She deserves to have the mass removed and to live her best life. I cannot imagine my life without Marley and I need to move forward knowing that I have done everything I can for her. She has many years left and this surgery is necessary to help her enjoy her remaining time.
