Let me tell you about why we are doing this. My boyfriend and leader of the Tantalus Theatre Troupe Free Company has been dealing with several medical issues, dating all the way back to January of this year. After getting very sick in the winter, he has been dealing with respiratory problems. This has also meant he is high-risk when it comes to covid-19. Due to the pandemic, he had to take a lot of time off work and due to the manner in which he was put off work, he wasn’t granted the same unemployment benefits as everyone else at that time. He didn’t receive nearly as much and has been struggling to keep up with bills.
Recently his health has become even worse, having major issues breathing, barely able to leave his house, and new arthritic pain in his legs, which has all limited his mobility. He has had to be put on a leave from work and is currently fighting with disability and unemployment to even get something to help support him. Due to his severe lack of mobility, he even had to rehome his dog. He was even trying to Door Dash to make any extra money he could, and now he cannot even do that. The medical bills along with just day-to-day bills are piling up and it’s becoming overwhelming since he still can’t get back to work. He has been constantly fighting with his disability claims due to the several doctors he’s been having to see over the past month and his work will not pay him any PTO because of the disability claim.
I and the rest of our group love and support him and want to make sure he can get the medical care he needs and live without stress until he can get back on his feet! Our goal is to raise enough money to pay any medical/prescriptions and day to day bills, currently Kit is trying to get enough money to pay his November rent and bills that he has fallen behind on.
