Dustin Christensen CF Fight

Donation protected
My nephew Dustin Christensen was born almost 41 years ago.  When he was 2 it was discovered he had been born with Cystic Fibrosis.  His parents Susan and Ted Christensen immediately sought out expert medical advice and treatment at the CF Clinic in Spokane.  At the time of Dustin’s diagnosis, life expectancy for CF patients was 12.  Dustin graduated from Oroville High School in 1996 and headed to Spokane to attend Spokane Community College.  After he finished his Education, he moved to Wenatchee, Washington after he married the love of his life, Julee.  Since that time, Dustin started his business, he and Julee adopted 4 children and became immersed in their lives in the Wenatchee Valley.

Dustin continually researches health and nutrition and has done an amazing job of maintaining his health.  Fire season is especially hard on him with the air quality and his compromised lungs.  This summer Dustin came down with a pretty serious lung infection that really took him down and limited his ability to run his business and do any activity outside.

Last Tuesday, September 18th, Dustin collapsed in his home and his heart stopped.  His family immediately called 911 and started life saving procedures.  The response teams arrived within 4 minutes and transported Dustin to the hospital.  They stabilized him and immediately put him into a cold and drug induced coma to limit damage to his brain and organs.  The medical staff was very honest with the family, telling them they didn’t know what impacts Dustin suffered and that it would be several days before they pulled him out of the coma.  Well, anyone that know Dustin knows he is a fighter and there is NO QUIT in him.  He woke himself out of the coma, started telling the nurses what he needed, asked for coffee and wanted to know when he could leave.  He’s a long way from that, but progressing daily.

As we all know, medical insurance doesn’t cover everything.  Nor does it cover the income Dustin would have generated running his business over the summer and now while he is hospitalized.  Friends and family have stepped up to finish job commitments for Dustin and Julee.

It is so hard for me to ask people to give, we’ve always been the ones that supported charities in our community and friends and families facing life challenges.  So I AM asking all of you family, friends and acquaintances of Dustin and Julee to give whatever you can, and of course offer your prayers for them and their extended family and friends.
