Duplication 7q11.23 - Melissa Mclean

Melissa is born with a very rare duplication syndrome (7q11.23) we found out the specific diagnose when she turned 12 years of age. She is one of three people in British Columbia who has this duplication syndrome. In the last 4 and a half years she has visited a variety of specialists, doctors, and hospitals to try to find a way to have a better quality of life. As her mother, I have done a variety of research, joined the conversation with other parents through Facebook groups and sourced out a variety of options to hopefully gain knowledge and support to help my daughter have a better life. Melissa needs to have a full body scan to see what the internal problem might be (ie a tumour growth, or something else). On top of the full body scan, I would like to find a specialist who specialises with hormones and or the duplicate syndrome (7q11.23). This specialist might be someone who located in Canada or located somewhere internationally. Therefore, we need your support to collect these funds. Melissa's family has had multiple sleepless nights, lots of worries about Melissa and her health. My own health has also been at risk during this time due to having been diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and following later a heart attack in 2018.
