A Companion For Madilyn

Hello! My name is Madilyn and I was diagnosed with Cerebal Palsy at the age of two. I am currently 9 years old and a 4th grader. I love animals and school, so now I can enjoy both together while making some daily needs easier to accomplish. I need to use a walker to walk, making everyday actions for most people obstacles for me. This is the reason I am so excited to find out that after a four year journey on the waiting list, I finally have been chosen to receive a companion dog!

However, being chosen to receive this companion dog has presented us with more obstacles. I am used to overcoming difficult task each and every day with help from others. I am hoping with your help I can overcome this hurdle too. My dad and I will have to travel from our home in Indiana to Ohio and stay for two weeks in a hotel to attend training with the companion dog that they have chosen for me.  The estimated expense for this trip is approximately $2000.00. We will have hotel, food, and gas expenses related to this exciting opportunity. I am so excited to have this companinon dog. As you all must know independence is difficult for any one with CP, but getting selected to have this friend will allow me to be more independence from my mom and dad. I know that will be great!
