Duck vs. The Deer

On Sunday 10/17, my sister's dog (Duck) was attacked by a deer. Yes, you read this correctly: My sister lives in a busy Midlothian (suburban) neighborhood and this happened in her backyard. Duck sustained both puncture wounds from the antlers and internal injuries from the hoof strikes. We were able to get him immediate help at the emergency hospital and are so thankful for the wonderful care givers. He's been in critical care/ICU since Sunday: We're now at 48 hours since the attack and while he's finally more stable, there's a long road ahead for his recovery. He's undergone several plasma and blood transfusions, CT scans and tests: We're still waiting for results of these to see if surgeries are necessary. There are internal injuries that haven't yet been pinpointed, possibly near his heart.

The love and emotional/prayer support you've shown has been overwhelming and we're so appreciative. We've also had countless emails/texts/calls about how to financially support his care, so I'm setting this up for anyone who wishes to contribute to his recovery. The bills have already hit $10k mark (just to get him stable) and we have no idea what is next. This pup deserved a fighting chance: Duck is young, strong and the sweetest doggie around. It's a humbling thing to do to post this, but I know many have asked on how to support his care. It's been a tough year+ in many ways, but these hard times have also shown us what is important and real...the love of friends/family/community. Big love to you all...
