Duane Parks Memorial Expenses

Donation protected
My brother Duane Parks passed away unexpectedly over the first week in April. He had been sick for several months and we all thought he was getting better until this tragic moment. Duane was an extremely talented musician who had played with a popular local band “Kitty Wampus” for the past 12 years.

Before then Duane has played with some other great bands such as, Lynx, Tyrant, Fanatiks, Tumble-Kings, Hip-Twangers and more. Plus he played at Disneyland CA and shared billings with Shalamar, Peaches and Herb, Kool and the Gang and Paul Revere and the Raiders. Duane also played for a few years at Dollywood with Randy Parton.

In the 80's in his band "Fanatics" fronted Survivor and Guess Who, recorded tracks with Waylon Jennings and Jessie Colter's daughter Jennifer. Then on into the 90's Duane recoreded tracks with Lee Greenwood. His band "Kitty Wampus" has backed up Clifford Curry, Jimmy Gilmer, Buzz Casen, The Box Tops' Gary Talley and Billy Swan.

Duane’s health started failing a few years ago to where he really couldn’t even help the band setup or take down the equipment. Duane never took out any insurance and was living in our deceased mother’s house. I am a single full time dad and Duane was the last of my original family. I lost my job a few years ago and being a single full time dad, I can’t find a job that works for me to take care of my child.

Now with funeral expenses and I will have to take on the taxes and utilities in the house he was living in until I can sell it. We need financial help to get through this tragedy.

Duane provided a lot of entertainment and put a lot of smiles on many people’s faces through the years. He was loved by all the music community and will be extremely missed by a lot of people. He was always full of fun and a jokester. Always polite to others and knew how to make people feel special by noticing them.

Duane was very strong willed, he had written and studio performed his own original songs. Even in his personal life, he was an alcoholic for over 20 years of his life. Then due to prayer and his strong will, he got up one day and never had another drop. That was 30 years ago and I was so proud of him.

Any type of donation will be greatly appreciated and will help me give him a decent burial and help me hold my life together until I can get over this unexpected heartbreaking and unfortunate event.
