Drinking water for rural children

Middelpos farm has a legal right of access fresh and clean drinking water from the nearby mountain. Although, the stream of water is strong and steady, the farm families situated on this isolated rural farm cannot access it on a regular basis because it is located some 3kms on a very steep and rocky slope that is difficult for elderly people and children to climb to.

The lack of drinking water has had a huge impact in the much needed implementation of the children and youth programme activities on Middelpos farm that provides educational, life skills and feeding support daily.

At the moment, a thin plastic bag has been used to connect the existing and a too thin pipe to the mountain and the entrance of the water stream. When the flow of water is strong, this plastic bag loses the battle between holding the connection and the force of the water. This results in losing most of the drinking water to the neighbouring farms because it cannot flow through the pipes downhill to the area where the families share the tap in the picture.

The solution is to put a 10 000 liter water tank with the right fittings and appropriate width of pipe from the mountain stream down 3kms to where the family houses are. To do this, we need 1 500USD and need your urgent help to help get us to this target please.

Thank you so much.
