Drew's Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
Drew Thomassen is a 42 year old father, husband, son, brother and friend, who is loved and adored by all his family and friends.
Drew had life changing news in July 2016 when he was diagnosed with a stage 4 brain tumour called a Glioblastoma. This news was devastating to Drew, his family and friends but in true Drew style he has taken the challenge of fighting this cancer with no complaints.
Drew had his first brain surgery in July 2016 followed by radiation and chemotherapy. A long rehabilitation period was required post surgery as his speech, right arm, hand and leg were affected by the surgery.
In November 2017 Drew relapsed and required further brain surgery to remove a new tumour and further radiation therapy. This was soon followed by a further tumour being found in February 2018. This tumour has not responded to the initial chemotherapy and now Drew has started a new therapy.
The new therapy which he started today is called Avastin and is going to cost a significant amount of money. As you can all imagine the last thing we want Drew and his beautiful family to worry about is the cost of this treatment so I thought this would be a good opportunity for us as a community to support a family that has always supported us.
