We are Dressup Market, an Irish business based in County Wexford. We host an online marketplace that promotes sustainable living. Open to individual and trade, we give the community opportunities to benefit from and take part in a circular economy.
THE CAMPAIGN
We are launching this campaign to create an opportunity for individuals and businesses across Ireland to support us in our quest. There is a critical need for action to reduce production and consumer waste in the textile industry and we aim to provide a real and lasting change to the current attitudes of “shop and toss” by persuading consumers to consider the more environmentally friendly: shop, reuse, donate and resell.
DID YOU KNOW?
- Second to oil, the clothing and textile industry is the largest polluter in the world.
United Nations Climate Change News states;
- that the fashion industry contributes 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions due to its long supply chains and energy intensive production.
- On average, consumers throw away 70 lbs of shoes and clothing [versus recycle], per person, annually.
-A few communities have textile recycling programs, about 85% of this waste goes to landfills where it occupies about 5% of landfill space and the amount is growing.
-Up to 95% of the textiles that are land filled each year could be recycled.
According to WRAP, consumers in Ireland and the UK are reported to have an estimated €42.8 billion worth of unworn clothes in their wardrobes.
This persistent throw-away fashion culture is depleting our natural resources and significantly contributing to the over-filling of our landfills. The best thing we can do is reuse more.
THE PLAN
We look to work with communities across the country to provide an offline base for the quick, easy and sustainable resale and recycling of clothing, accessories & homeware. Creating local jobs, money-making opportunities and smart shopping options for all.
We look for those working in the industry to become more aware of the threats and the immediate responsibility of all involved to take part in sustainable efforts to reduce the pressure on the environment, via our verified partner program where we team with retailers and brands to promote resale and stop the throw away culture.
To achieve this goal, we are looking to raise €150,000 over the next 3-6 months so we can take our mission and the campaign to the next level, to source opportunities to match fund, with the aim to have established up to six community hubs around the country in 12-18 months.

We started small. Working at her kitchen table and visiting direct sellers and consignor homes to promote the cause, our CEO Lana Gregan built Dressup Market out of her own home. The dream of providing a platform with innovative opportunities and a business that promotes sustainable living was the driving force in pursuing this venture.
We are currently helping our online community of over 15,000 give clothing and homeware a longer lifespan, along with reducing excess stock in the retail industry with our new premium and designer outlet. With many items new with tags and in excellent condition, we call for everyone to include second-hand in their purchasing decisions. Mix the new with the used, making a difference, one piece at a time.

Founded in 2017, we have funded privately to this point and would ask for the support of our community to bring this project to the next level. Unlike others in this space, we are not here to simply provide consumers with the opportunity to purchase a Chanel handbag at half price, we aim to provide a real and efficient solution to style management and use of space. This requires having more than a digital presence. To make a real change, we aim to be conscious, beyond convenient and circular.
