Dren in Mour(Water is Life) Project

Donation protected

Water is essential to life....and everyone of us has a right to clean water.

Yet for many countries, including the Marshall Islands (RMI), many families still lack access to clean water. The disease burden for drinking unsafe water is high. Gastroenteritis and other water borne illnesses are rampant in the RMI, and for outer island communities, the burden is especially great as access to even the most basics of necessities is limited.

Kora in Okrane (KIO) will be leading a nation-wide effort to provide ALL outer island households in the Marshalls with individual water filter systems; these systems are able to filter 250 gallons of clean water per day, 1,000,000 (one million) gallons of water during its lifetime. Through a grant, KIO was able to procure 3000 filters, worth nearly $50,000.00 from a US-based company called SAWYER. The Point One Sawyer water filter system is US EPA as well as RMI EPA approved and has the capacity to filter 99.9999 percent of bacteria. All 3000 filters will be distributed to the 2500+ outer island households, 150+ outer island schools, and 50+ outer island dispensaries in country.

BUT we need your help in purchasing durable, food-safe buckets to be provided with the kits. For just $5.00, you can sponsor a household and make an immediate and lasting impact.

Your support and donation will empower families and build resilience in outer island communities.  As our motto depicts: Buidrikdrik Maronron; A little help goes a long way.

KIO is a non-government, not-for-profit organization established in 2006 by young female volunteers that have banded together to promote the advancement of women and children of the Marshall Islands. KIO's  mission is to provide targeted assistance to social and economically disadvantaged women and children of the Marshall Islands. Through advocacy, education and public awareness and events, and challenged themselves and others to participate in the spirit of community service, to provide families a chance for a better and healthy life and to serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for the future of our people and country.

KIO has implemented over 30 projects and events since 2006, and has gained a reputable image among the communities across the Marshall Islands. Its membership continues to volunteer their time, knowledge, and skills to implement these projects and events.

Thank you for your time and support. God bless!

This little girl is from Malel, Arno and is the FIRST ever beneficiary of our Dren in Mour project. Her family was able to treat rain water through the filter system within a matter of minutes.
