Dreamers for David

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Amanda and I am a wife to a dreamer. My husband David has been a recipient of DACA since he was 16 years old. He was brought here to the United States from Mexico when he was 9 years old in 2005 by his single mother who sought out a better life for her and her son: the American Dream all immigrants aspire for. He had to adapt to a whole new life, culture, and learn an entire new language. Every 2 years, it is mandatory to renew his work permit to be able to legally work here in the U.S. His work permit expires next month in May 2019. It is a $495 fee. We started the process of applying for his permanent residence (green card) in 2017 out of fear after hearing the news of Trump ending DACA. This would affect the lives of 800,000 young adults, one of those being my husband. Having his permanent residence would make our lives more secure and help us in the future to be able to buy a home, get a loan, leave the country, etc. This is crucial for not only my husbands life, but for our little family. We are about half way through the permanent residence process and have already invested almost $2,000 in this. We have to pay for his waiver, visa, and flights/hotels for him to go back to his home country. This will be around $6,000 (estimate). Due to all of this, we are faced with challenging expenses.

We are a young family with a beautiful baby girl who is almost 2 years old. We want our daughter to be able to have her dad stay here in the United States and not have to worry about our lives being in limbo, since DACA can be taken away at any time. This opportunity will change our lives forever. David is a hard working man who works 2 jobs to try to make ends meet and to provide for us. He is also a great father who is adored by our daughter. She is a daddy’s girl. Furthermore, his dreams of finishing college have been put on hold due to these circumstances. His entire life is established here in America. Unfortunately, we do not have enough money to pay for these expenses and we do not want to have to forfeit what we are so close to finishing. The money will go towards paying for his government applications and fees.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated. No donation is too small. If you are unable to donate, please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much.
