Drama Kids Harvey Relief Fund

Donation protected

Greetings from the Drama Kids International, Inc. (DKI) corporate office and staff in Leesburg, Virginia.  DKI is the franchisor for independently owned and operated Drama Kids franchise locations throughout the United States.

This fund was created by DKI for the sole purpose of allowing DKI franchisees throughout the country to come to the aid of your fellow franchisees and their employees who were negatively and financially impacted by Hurricane Harvey.  The fund was not posted publicly and only communicted to DKI franchisees.

DKI's intent has been and continues to be to work with our affected franchisees to determine those DKI affiliates/employees who have been impacted the most and allocate the funds collected among these individuals.  We hope to withdraw the funds the week of October 2, 2017 and immediately write and send checks to those affected.  100% of the funds collected will be distributed to those in need.

By now you have likely seen the devastation that is happening in Texas as a result of hurricane Harvey.  Toni Frana and I have been doing our best to keep in touch with our Drama Kids franchise owners whose territories are in the affected areas.  Thankfully all franchise owners are safe, and to our knowledge, none have experienced anything other than minimal damage to their residences as of Tuesday afternoon.  However, we do know that some Drama Kids teachers and employees have lost everything, and we are trying to determine who has been affected and the extent of their losses.

It will take many months, and more accurately years to recover from the physical damage that Harvey has caused.  In addition, affected franchise owners will certainly experience financial losses due to classes that must be postponed or even cancelled due to schools that have been seriously damaged.

We have set up this GoFundMe page and account to raise funds that will be used to help those Drama Kids franchise owners and staff in need.  We have yet to determine how the funds will be allocated, but we will be taking into consideration funds needed to rebuild lives, and possibly provide staff with some compensation during the recovery period.  We will be publishing more information where this is concerned soon.

There is certainly no requirement to donate.  However, if you wish to help out, please donate any amount you are comfortable with by using this site.

We ask that all of you continue to keep all Drama Kids franchise owners and their staff in your thoughts and prayers, along with everyone who has been affected by this horrible disaster.  We will be in touch again soon with another update.

Take Care!

Doug, Margie, Toni and Charlie

Fraud Prevention Details:
Drama Kids International is a U.S. corporation that offers independently owned and operated franchise business owners the ability to operate drama-related, developmental after-school enrichment programs for children throughout the United States.  Drama Kids is headquartered in Leesburg, Virginia and has franchise locations throughout the U.S.

Many Drama Kids franchisees (franchise business owners) are located in the areas affected by Hurricane/tropical storm Harvey.  As such, these local franchised business owners are not able to conduct business until further notice, and their employees are therefore not able to work and/or get paid by the local Drama Kids franchise owner employer.  In addition, some Drama Kids franchise owners and quite a few Drama Kids employed teachers and admin staff have been personally affected by the flooding, with several having lost their homes and vehicles.

The purpose of this campaign is to allow Drama Kids franchise owners and corporate staff in unaffected locations throughout the U.S. to contribute to  the fund. Proceeds from the fund will be used to help Drama Kids franchise owners and their staff rebuild their lives and pay their bills during these difficult times.

Drama Kids International, Inc. senior executives will be working and communicating with affected franchise owners, collecting details about each franchise owner and each of their employees who have been affected to determine the extent to which they have been affected (lost income, damage to homes,  vehicles, etc.).  Drama Kids International will then determine how the funds are to be alloated based on the extent of each affected person's loss, what will be covered by insurance and what will not, etc.  100% of the net proceeds available through this fund will be disbursed to those affected by the storm (net meaning that GoFundMe charges fees for credit card transactions and also for making the fund possible).
