Dr. Marcia A. Sherman Scholarship 2021 Fundraiser

Tax deductible
Last year the first award of a scholarship in Marcia's name went to Ankitha Radakrishnan, a student at Northwestern University Medical School from Mahwah. Thanks to the generosity of last year's donors, this year we were able to award two scholarships, to Dr. Adesuwa Okesanya, a physician pursuing a master's in public health leadership, and Rosa Espinales, who is training to be a physician's assistant. Now we're raising funds for next year, and beyond, with a double match for the first $10,000 in donations. On Oct. 21, the Breast Cancer Center of Summit Medical Group and Summit Health Cares (formerly the SMG Foundation) will help us kick off the campaign with a brief Zoom event that will combine a song performed by Marcia's close friends Jon Fried and Deena Shoshkes, information from Breast Cancer Center staff, a tribute to Marcia, a discussion of the importance of supporting female doctors of color, and a chance to virtually meet the scholarship recipients. Donors and attendees will be eligible to win a dinner for two at Common Lot in Millburn in what GoFundMe insists I not call a r..a...f...f...l...e.
