Dr. Anne Okonma is a hard working medical doctor with a passionate heart for people. As a medical officer in the Public Health sector, she dedicated her work to serving the communities in Lagos, Nigeria for over 10 years. However for the past one year, she fell gravely ill and has sought treatment in several public and private hospitals in Nigeria. A conclusive diagnosis for her gynecological and hematological problems has not be reached but she has now been diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure and has been undergoing multiple dialysis sessions weekly to remain alive.
She is searching for funds to travel to India to seek diagnosis and treatment for the gynecologic/hematologic problem and to have a kidney transplant for the kidney failure. She will also require lifelong anti-rejection drugs which are also expensive to prevent her body from rejecting the new kidney.
The time is ticking because she is at risk of developing more fatal complications in addition to the end-stage kidney damage that has now occurred.
An estimated 25 million Naira is needed (approximately $83,000 Canadian Dollars) for the ongoing dialysis treatment, kidney transplant, diagnostic investigations, surgeries, pre- and post-management care, including life-long anti-rejection drugs.

The price of life cannot be quantified. She has been financially and emotional drained but with each donation, there is hope. A donation of $100 can be placed towards her treatment. Nothing is too small. A donation of $6000 can cover anti-rejection drugs for a year (and she would need these for life). A donation of $25,000 can take care of her kidney transplant. Even a donation of $20 can be put towards travel and accommodation expenses for her and a caregiver.
