Dr. Adrian Yuen Transplant Journey

Donation protected
Probably one of the toughest post I’ve had to post so far, so bear with me. 10 years ago, my dad, Adrian Yuen, was gifted with a kidney after going through kidney failure and being on dialysis for almost 3 years. God has been so good to us. We find ourselves 10 years later, preparing ourselves to travel down a road that is too familiar. My dad has gone back into kidney failure. Day by day is a struggle with maintaining his blood pressure. The heart is taking its toll in over compensating for the body. He has good days and bad days. But his spirits are high, and he is so encouraged by so many who have prayed over and for him. We face the first phase of this process today, 3/13/18, where my dad underwent surgery to have the dialysis port put back in. There are risks involved that are beyond the normal procedural risk and we understood that. He remained in recovery for almost 7 hours due to his breathing and other concerns that arose after the procedure. Because of this, he was not discharged as planned and was admitted to the hospital. Our faith is being sharpened during this time. This process is slow and sometimes frustrating, but I am blessed with the team that has been assigned to my father. So here we are, a familiar yet different road. Because my dad has already undergone a transplant by a personal donor, his medical is only covering a portion of the second transplant. We’ve also been told that Kaiser does not have the necessary medical team/equipment to perform the transplant here in Hawaii, therefor, my dad will most likely have to travel to San Francisco should and when we find a donor. If my dad requires medical attention for any complications that arise during or after the procedure, we understand that it will all be out of pocket. My dad has loved people back to life. He may not have been perfect, but he has always been present and consistently lived truth. He has given his life for a greater call and will continue to live it out to the very end. I admire his love for God and his love for people.

We love our father and he has dedicated his entire life to God and the people of Hawaii. He has taught for many years in Kailua and his love for the students speak of his tenderness and ability to touch the heart.  We need him and we would like to see him continue with his mission of helping others on their journey.

We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and for your contribution to us seeing this through during this time in his life. My siblings and I will need to alternate and travel to help with his recovery care. We sincerely covet your prayers that God will provide us with a donor that has a blood type of "O" positive. Please contact me if you have any questions. We are starting this GoFund Me at 50k to assist will all expenses relating to this process (procedures, hospital expenses, medications, care, transplant expenses, travel expenses, etc.). We understand it may change as things progress. Thank you for your love and support during this time.
