Carter's Fund for Fire Safety

Tax deductible
Phil and I have thought about Carter a lot this month. Knowing his birthday is coming is hard for us both and we know it will be another difficult day for his family.

When Phil had a bad day, he would call Carter and they would go have a few drinks. Carter would talk nonsense, tell stories and take Phil's mind off whatever was bothering him. That friendship is what Phil misses most and I have a feeling many of you do, too.

With that in mind, Phil and I are choosing to celebrate on September 13th, Carter's 41st birthday. Instead of allowing another day of feeling sorry for what we have lost, we would like to celebrate his memory by helping others.

I have contacted the City of Richmond Fire Department, who were all so wonderful to his family through this, and asked how we could help them. They have a program called the Friends in Residential Emergecy or F.I.R.E. that is a 100% donation led charity program that serves to educate residents about fire safety.

If you feel moved to, please consider donating to this cause in Carter's name. If everyone in the Facebook group donated just $5, we would raise upwards of $2,000 for this fund. The money will go directly to the fund itself, right from this page.

I also encourage everyone to send a card or note to Carter's family sometime this month. If we miss Carter, I know they miss him infintely more. Let's show them that they are not alone and we are all still celebrating him in our own way.
