Douglas J. Grady BSA Camp Woodland Memorial

Douglas Grady was a lifelong Scouter and your donation will help memorialize his decades of service to the Boy Scouts of America. All funds raised will go towards a special memorial to him at the Museum and Library at his favorite campground, Camp Woodland, in Constantia, NY. This tribute captures Doug's love of Scouting and his interests in history, museums, libraries and education.
Born in Brooklyn in 1950, Douglas Grady was a lifelong Scouter. As a youth he was a member of his church troop in Sunset Park, Brooklyn attaining the rank of Star Scout. As a young father he eagerly awaited the day his sons could begin scouting and was an active leader in their journey from Cub to Boy Scouts in both Pack and Troop 349 in Forest Hills NY. Upon moving to Upstate NY he took an even more active role as the Scout Master for Troop 11 in Amber, NY. He mentored many young men to the Eagle Scout rank, including both his sons, James and Andrew. For his 20+ years of service to the Troop, District and Council he was awarded the prestigious Silver Beaver Award to recognize his hard work, self-sacrifice and dedication. Upon retirement he stayed active in Scouting by serving as an advisor to potential Eagle Scouts in the Greater New York Councils and finally for Troop 71 in Milford, PA. At the time of his passing, Doug was looking forward to many more years of camping and scouting with his grandson Avinash, a Bear Scout in Pack 457, St. Louis MO.
The Scout Law states:
"A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent."
Douglas Grady lived these values everyday and with every single person he met.
