Double tragedy for Hoffman family

Donation protected
I am starting a go fund me page for the Hoffman family. Tragedy has beset them in the worst way.  There was a storm in Erie, Pa and the water level rose so quickly that the streets flooded. Gary and his brother in law Mike went downstairs to shut the power off to their home, when they reached the part of the basement where the electrical box was the wall collapsed and caved in on top of them killing them both.  The next day when his wife and child came back to their home it had been ransacked and thieves took everything.  Please continue reading the next part of the story!

We met Gary years ago as our kids went to school together. He ended up being the baseball coach for my son Joseph. We became fast friends and our families spent almost every day with each other. His son was like our son and vice versa. As that year progressed my health took a turn for the worse and we slowly began to lose everything. Gary and his wife stepped up and showed us such kindness during our time of need. My husband got a job offer but that meant we had to move. One additional problem was our truck needed thousands of dollars in repairs in order for us to take it anywhere and we had no money. Gary was an auto mechanic and said no problem I will fix it. He proceeded to take us around in his truck to different auto parts stores to collect what we needed. He called a friend who owned a garage and asked if he could use his garage for us. This man was disabled with more health issues than you could imagine but still took 2 days to fix our car for free, knowing we had no way to repay him. He opened his home to our children and showed them so much hospitality and love. Over the next few years when we would come back into town for a visit, Gary would always invite us over for a great dinner (usually a cookout) and make sure we had everything we needed. He was the best host. I have never met a more caring, giving, kind, genuine soul in my entire life. The world is now more cold, lonely, and dark with his passing. Please help me in paying him back for his kindness in his families time of need. I don't know of a more deserving family. God bless.
