Dorothy Futch Pancreatic Cancer Fund

Donation protected

On November 7, 2020 was one of the happiest days of her life, she renewed her vows with her husband Darryl Futch of 30 years. Within three weeks her life was completely turned upside down.  On November 30 she was diagnosed with Stage 4  Pancreatic cancer which had spread to her omentum.  As the doctors to continue to run tests to see if there was any additional spread the family waited anxiously. Within a week it was determined that the cancer had also spread to her lungs, liver and ovaries. Because of the aggressive nature of this type of cancer and the urgent need for treatment to manage systems and prevent further spread she did go for a second opinion where she was given the same treatment options and prognosis.

She started her first chemo treatment on December 16 and had the infusion pump just removed today. Dorothy will continue to have chemo therapy by infusion pump for 48 hours every two weeks for 3 months which at that time the doctors will repeat the PET scan to see if the spread of the cancer changed or  slowed down.

Dorothy is a loving wife, mother and grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She has always been a giver and loves helping people. She has done a lot for the  community that she lives in including Toy Runs for needy kids, food drives for needy families and has worked very close with the teen girls in her community  providing prom dresses for girls that may otherwise not be able to attend prom. She is a Cafeteria Manager at a local middle school in Alachua County, FL and has been in the school system working with children for the last 16 years. Her joy comes from seeing others happy.

This diagnosis is devastating  to her family as they know that over the coming months she will require many doctor visits as well as many additional tests and medications that may not be covered by insurance. Her husband will need to take time off of work to get her to the doctor visits and testing required to battle her cancer.  The financial costs they are facing is staggering. She is a strong willed person and is determined to fight.  Dorothy has placed her faith in God's hands.

If you are able to make a financial donation to help the family they will forever be grateful. If you are unable to donate please share their story and keep her and the  family in your prayers.

Thank you for taking the time to let me tell you about my sister.
