Hello my friends and family,
I'm reaching out to you for help because on 9/29/18 I was violently assaulted in my Bushwick, BK home by a close friend of mine / roommate . He attempted to take my life. He assaulted me out of nowhere, choking and suffocating me in the dark again and again. I fought for my life & got away by escaping out of my kitchen window down the fire escape. I then crawled into my neighbor's window ( terrified and shaking) and dialed 911. There is a warrant out for his arrest for attempted murder since he managed to get away before the NYPD arrived.
I want everybody to know that I'm ok and in the care of loved ones; however, this experience has left me in a devastating situation in many ways.
I lost my awesome bartending job in NYC due to the deep gash in my knee. I now have trouble walking / standing for long periods of time. My medical bills are over $1,000.
Joel never paid his Oct 1 rent and now Nov 1 rent is coming up totaling $2600 plus utilities. On top of having no money for bills, since I lost my job, I do not feel safe in my home or my neighborhood any longer and need to move out as Joel has not yet been apprehended by NYPD. He is a danger to me and to the neighborhood at large.
As a result, I am now suffering from PTSD. I need a service dog and self defense classes to offset the increasing symptoms. I have been experiencing terrible flashbacks, high levels of rage, anxiety attacks & shaking.
Right now I need to move out of Bushwick, and find somewhere peaceful and quiet to stay so that I can recover from this experience. I wish to begin my journey of healing so that I can carry on with my life's purpose and work which is music production and creating art.

If you are reading this there is a good chance that you may have known Joel. Perhaps you met him at Tarot Society in Bushwick BK, like I did several years ago. Friends and I welcomed Joel into our circle when he was just 17 and homeless. We loved and admired him for his charming personality and also for his creative efforts as an artist. We never knew he was homeless, (due to his highly dysfunctional family life), but he managed to survive and get himself back on his feet. This is why I opened my home to him, never expecting any of this to be the result.
Joel was always kind to me , always cared for me, so his violent outbreak towards me was really shocking and unexpected. I do firmly believe that he must suffer from some sort of psychosis, mental illness, manic/compulsive behavior disorder. I believe that his violent behavior was triggered by 3 days of DMT use. Ultimately he is a danger to himself and to others.
Thank you so much to everybody who has contacted me over the past week, and thank you SO much to my sister and closest friends for holding me up this week and putting me back together. I will always love you.
