Doobie’s golden years fundraiser

Throwing a little fundraiser to give “The Doobs” the best quality of life we can during his golden years. Your contribution will ensure that we can continue to provide Doobie with physio, to help ensure that he can do the most basic of dog things like get up and go outside to sniff around and enjoy his beloved frozen sardines. 

About Doobie:

For those of you who know Doobie (a.k.a Chuchito de amor, the Doobs, ChooChoo), you know it takes quite a lot to ruffle his proverbial feathers and that his calm demeanor is contagious. He’s a grumpy, goofy, adorable darling. A chicken-cat-sheep-puppy hybrid in wolf’s clothing. In fact, one of his two mamas attributes her healing from PTSD mostly to Doobie’s soothing presence. He’s a therapy dog who doesn’t even know it.

Doobie’s health over the past few years:

Our fave fur ball has been progressively losing use of his hind legs due to a neurological issue. Valeria has been assisting him in walking, using a specialized harness for the last eight months or so. 

But this loss of movement in his hind legs has left Doobie lying down on his bed much of the day. This immobility led to a kidney infection that led him to being hospitalised at the Centre Veterinaire DMV. Our little furry grump was in a very very bad state. So bad that the vets told us that his time had probably come. But being the little fighter that he is, The Doobs pulled through.

What Doobie needs now:

Besides good ol’ Mexican love from Mamma V...he needs physio to prevent another big infection. 

Doob’s expenses:

Hospitalization and medication for kidney infection in October: $3500
Physiotherapy appointments and Pet taxi for transport: 95 + 55 per session (1 session per week ) = at $145 per week = $580 per month
Physiotherapy equipment: $100
A few follow-up appointments with vet to treat and prevent further infections (blood tests, urine tests, painkillers, antibiotics): $600 per month.
