Donnie Beck's Final Journey

This is my dad, Donnie Beck.

To many, he is a musical genius, a legendary musician who has composed and arranged some of the funkiest stuff in existence.  He shared the stage with musical greats such as Buddy Miles and Ronnie Laws.

To most, he is an animated storyteller with an uncanny ability to use words, spot-on impressions and sound effects to make a room full of people fall to the floor with laughter.

To all of us who know him, he is a kind-hearted, gentle and generous soul.

Last week, Donnie was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.  It has spread throughout his brain and lymph nodes.  The docs say he's only got a couple months left.

The findings were incidental.  It was the most shocking news imaginable.  None of us were prepared to deal with this; my dad has always been the most resilient man in the world. 

We always think we have all the time in the world with our loved ones, until we are smacked in the face by mortality.

Let us come together to make Dad's final journey a great one.  Let us help my mom,  Elenna, his wife of 36 years, spend these precious days without worry of how she's going to pay for any unforseen expenses.
