Donna was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. It came as a surprise to her and Chip, her husband, and Alicia (me), her daughter.
I’m creating this funding campaign to help my parents with the medical bills and monthly expenses.
A brief history: These past 3 years, Donna has battled several health conditions. Even after 3 shoulder surgeries, managing interstitial cystitis (IC), and managing a liver disease, she was still able teach her online college classes, and get up and go places. I’m not even counting the fact that she’s been managing (very well) with type 1 diabetes since she was 7 years old. So when I heard the results of her bone biopsy was cancer, the word ‘unfair’ just doesn’t come close to describing it.
After 9 radiation treatments, and 2 chemotherapies sessions, she became weak and could no longer drive or work. She had to resign from teaching. She became nauseous, had headaches, and just this past July, she was in the hospital for 11 horrific days with colitis (inflamed colon). Much more happened, but if I wrote it all down it would fill up a few chapters of a novel.
My parent's insurance comes from Chip's work. He drives a school bus and the school system’s fiscal year begins September 1st . That means it is a new year for their insurance. They will need to pay for doctor appointments and prescriptions until their deduction is met.
My parents have been blessed with financial gifts now and then. But they still need help.
I want to give a shout out to all the beautiful people who have already supported Donna and Chip financially. You know who you are! I’d be so happy if you could spread the word to your friends and family. Any donation amount will be a huge blessing to Donna and Chip. I have faith God will provide for my parents through people’s generosity.
Here is what the money will help pay for:
· pay off medical debt
· pay for upcoming dr. appointments
· pay for current and upcoming prescriptions
· pay for house bills (utilities, taxes, etc.…)
It will also help pay for the new treatment Donna just started (as of 9/6/17). (The cost is so unbelievably outrageous, I’m not even sure I heard it right...I’ll check and write about it in a later post.)
