Dazzle Deb with Love

Five years ago in 2012 a little preschool was blessed  with a HUGE heart. Deborah Carey has been a beloved educator to hundreds of pre-school students in the five years that she has been teaching. Honestly, it is  impossible to describe in words the impact that Deb has had on the children and the adults that are lucky enough to know her. Deb is a loving and generous woman that is always thinking about her students-or as she calls them "her babies." The love and care that she shows to each and every one of her students makes them feel confident and special. Everyday she is greeted with love and hugs from her many "babies." 

On May 11th, 2017 what we thought was a simple cold turned  out to be Stage 1 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Deb is currently in the process of seeking chemotherapy and radiation treatments to try and eliminate the Cancer. While we are optimistic about her diagnosis, we are extremely concerned about her finances while she is on the road to recovery. 

Deb took advantage of the Obama health insurance and when she went to renew it this year they doubled her rate which made it unaffordable for her family. She now has NO health insurance. The worst part with this particular diagnosis is that Deb is unable to continue working even if she was well enough. People who are undergoing chemotherapy should not be exposed to any unnecessary germs. Being a preschool teacher Deb is surrounded by so many little people it is impossible to work and get well. A simple cold could be life threatening during her treatment.

We would love to get Deb financial support for her living expenses and medications right away as she is no longer working. You see, Deb is a single Mom and raising her son on her own.  Her son Mikey (who is graduating today from High School-WAY TO GO MIKEY!) has declared that he will work two jobs in order to make sure they are able to survive until his Momma is back on her feet. Yet, Mikey is due to start college this Fall and is supposed to have surgery himself this summer that requires him to be off of his feet for at least 2 to 4 weeks.  Any funds that you are able to donate would help alleviate some of the fears and pressure that they are both dealing with during this difficult time.

We are currently in the process of putting together a fundraising carnival picnic event that we will be having in July. We plan on having booths, serving food and holding a silent auction at the picnic. Deb is near and dear to many hearts-big and small. Please help us in helping Deb on her road to recovery. She is a fighter and we know she can beat this disease, but she can fight this fight easier if she isn't battling poverty AND cancer.
