Hello folks, my name is Jimmy. I'm an RN working on the Trauma/Neuro floor for the last 12 years. My journey to using GoFundMe as a way of reaching out for a helping hand began a year ago in July/August 2024. I injured both my neck and lumbar section of my back. I had my first cervical (neck) surgery, an ACDF, on 8/14/24. Four days later, I had to have emergency surgery due to developing hematomas internally and externally. By October 2024, the hardware placed on my cervical spine failed. This resulted in having to undergo a second surgery, a laminectomy, and sturdier hardware placed. I developed an infection and had to have the antibiotic Daptomycin infused daily for six weeks. I was able to utilize the short-term disability provided by my employer to continue to receive paychecks and insurance benefits. However, this expired on 12/31/2024. My wife wasn't able to get insurance until May 2025. I pretty much emptied my 401k in order to pay bills, groceries, etc. But those funds are almost depleted now. I am on LOA from my job but really want to get back to work. My only obstacles left are to get a laminectomy on L2-S1 to correct the spinal stenosis developed from injuries. It should be occurring within the next few weeks. I have been doing epidurals with steroids trying to avoid surgery but to no avail. I am reaching out for a helping hand so I can cover my ever-expanding medical bills and ensure my household stays afloat with monthly bills.
