Donate to help the community of Janjanbureh

My name is Jane Smith and in 2010 I founded the charity Just Act Gambia based in Janjanbureh, CRR Region, The Gambia. Training local youths as tour guides in Janjanbureh, CRR Region, The Gambia was the first significant development.
Attending that first course was an outstanding person, Omar Jatto Jammeh. I have worked with Omar ever since.   In 2015 he developed the Gambian NYC organisation JUST ACT. From this he has initiated and led a strong team of youths in many projects beneficial to the whole community and surrounding areas.

I know him to be a man of vision, innovative, offering selfless service, with utter dedication to his community, recognised by all who come into contact with him.

Many new EU-funded initiatives have been introduced to the island through him and his leadership, giving paid employment to local youths and returnees. These young people will also be leaders of the future, inspired by his example. When a job needs doing or overseeing the man to ask is ‘Jatto’ and he has covered numerous other activities too.

He was approached to stand as a National Assembly Member (NAM) in the coming elections April 9th 2022 and is doing so as an Independent candidate.
He is hugely popular in the constituency, many people realising that even though he was defeated 5 years ago he immediately continued  to serve his community in every manner possible. Residents are prepared to forgo party alliegence in order to vote for the person who is already the man of action.

The system of voting requires the resident to physically be in Janjanbureh on the day of voting to drop in their marble. There are many supporters who live elsewhere, especially in the Kombos. Funded parties will pay for transport to JJB in order to ensure their voters presence. Omar is self funding. I am asking for support, however little or however much, to provide support for Omar’s campaign and similar opportunities.

Those of you who know him will recognise that he will always remain, living humbly in his community, serving it to the very best of his ability.  His aim is to raise £800 as soon as possible. Those of you in the diaspora who know him can help your community even though you cannot vote. The benefit is to your family there and their future.
Please rest assured that every penny raised will be transferred openly and honestly.
Thank you.  Abaraka.
