Hi everyone,

Rowan, our ten-month-old American Bulldog mix and the sweetest, toothiest grinning little girl you’ll ever meet, needs your help.

On September 2nd, while doing one of her favourite activities (hiking) with her Mom, Rachel, and biological dog-Dad, Enzo, Rowan was involved in a horrible accident, falling from a high cliff. She sustained life-threatening injuries. Rachel sprung into quick action to begin the rescue of Rowan, determined to locate her and save Rowan’s life. With the help of 3 kind civilians, Niagara Regional Police were eventually able to locate Rachel and Rowan in the canyon.

Niagara Regional’s K9 Unit was first on the scene. Understanding the urgency of Rowan’s circumstances, the officer acted quickly to rescue Rowan out of the Provincial park to safety. Rachel rushed Rowan to her veterinarian’s office, where they began life-saving measures.

Rowan’s young body suffered extensive trauma, including liver damage, a shattered back left femur, shock, and her chest cavity was filling with air. The team at St. Catharines Animal Hospital worked diligently to save her life. Rowan was in the best place and hands she could be. All Rowan’s parents, Rachel and Scotty, can do is pray Rowan will not succumb to her injuries and make it through this very real nightmare.

There is no doubt this baby girl is strong and resilient. Rachel is grateful to share that under excellent medical care, Rowan is stabilizing. Unfortunately, the damage to Rowan’s left hind leg is extensive. Rachel and Scotty were willing and determined to do whatever it took to save Rowan’s leg, with her health and quality of life as a top priority. With the assessment and guidance of 4 Veterinary professionals, Rachel and Scotty have made the difficult decision to have Rowan’s leg amputated.

Rowan’s amputation is tentatively scheduled for September 6th, 2022, assuming she is stable enough to proceed with surgery. In addition to this measure, Rachel and Scotty will adopt a holistic approach to her health and recovery. They will implement all medical recommendations, purchase equipment, complete rehabilitation therapies, and do whatever else is needed to mitigate the side effects and discomfort associated with amputation and Rowan’s second chance at life.

Rachel and Scotty were prepared to take on the financial burden of Rowan’s medical care alone. But after discussing things with friends and family members who were eager to help, they have decided to seek crowdfunding to help cover some of the costs.

There is no doubt we have an uphill battle ahead of us. Because Rowan is so young and strong, Rachel and Scotty feel confident they can give Rowan every possible advantage to live a long and happy life.

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn about this fantastic, playful, special baby girl. We appreciate every contribution, every message, and every share of this GoFundMe page. It means the world to us.

Love,
Rachel, Scotty, Enzo and Rowan
