Donate to help keep education alive in Guatemala

Want to join us in making a difference? For 18 years, we have worked to support the educational mission of the New Dawning Christian School in San Juan La Laguna, Guatemala. But we have not been alone.

Sponsors from all over the United States have joined us in an organization called Children of Lake Atitlan, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is simple: Assist the school in paying teacher salaries, supporting needy children, and providing educational supplies to the students.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many people have been unable to continue their sponsorship. We understand that! They have also not been able to visit the school. In an average year, there are 3 or 4 groups that come to assist the school, but we experienced a two-and-a-half-year period where they were unable to come.

The motivation for this fund-raiser is two-fold. First, we want to give people an opportunity to donate directly to the school. Second, we are inviting our supporters to hold their own fund-raisers where they live and to donate the money raised to the school through the Children of Lake Atitlan.

The New Dawning school depends on donations, as it is located in a developing area of the world. We hope that in the near future, groups will be able to return to assist the school and that support will increase. But, for now, we hope that this fund-raiser will fill in the gap created by recent events.
