Help us raise funds for K-9 Zayne

Tax deductible
ZAYNE:
After working 9 years on patrol shift, K-9 ZAYNE retired on September 2, 2022, from the Canton Police Department. Only a few short months later, ZAYNE was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer that begins in the cells that form bones.

ZAYNE’s family knew they had to act quickly. ZAYNE received specialized care at MedVet in Columbus, Ohio. With advanced knowledge from specialists, ZAYNE’s family made the decision to save him by amputating his limb.

The purpose of this GoFundMe is to raise funds to compensate for ZAYNE’s medical care. Donations to this GoFundMe will go towards the Police K-9 Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and charitable organization ZAYNE is a retired member of. In the event this fundraiser graciously receives donations above our intended goal, the supplemental funds will be reserved for the additional 60 active and retired K-9's within the Police K-9 Association.

ZAYNE’S HISTORY:
Over his 9-year watch, ZAYNE was called upon countless times not only by his department, but neighboring agencies. The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force called on ZAYNE to investigate possible explosive threats and locate missing persons, including tracking a number of hardened criminals.

ZAYNE served as lead security for annual events at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He was the eyes, ears, and nose of thousands of spectators, ensuring the safety of all who attended the HOF each year. He also humbly accepted invitations to lead private security details and sweeps when called upon.

ZAYNE traveled the country with his partner, Ofc. Heslop, and obtained specialized training from world-renowned Police and Military K-9 trainers, in turn teaching his peers.

While his resume is impressive, ZAYNE’s greatest accomplishments have been loving and protecting his family. ZAYNE is a family man. He frequently adventures with his mom, dad, doggo sister Reese, and his human sister and brothers. These are the individuals with whom ZAYNE is most excited to spend his retirement.

POLICE K-9 ASSOCIATION:
The Police K-9 Association promotes service and safety in our communities through the efficient deployment and use of K-9 teams. The PK9A® consists of nearly 60 active and retired teams who represent 20 individual police and sheriff departments. K-9’s play a vital role in communities by providing a myriad of missions consisting of drug enforcement, criminal apprehension, officer safety, tracking, detection, and search and rescue. As the need for K-9’s continues to grow, so does our organization’s responsibility to support our K-9 teams.

Our predecessors formed the PK9A® in 1985 with the intent to assist a single department for their own needs. Over nearly four decades, our organization has grown exponentially, reaching far past Canton, Ohio. In our partnership with the Canton Police Department K-9 Unit, we offer training to all our active K-9 teams weekly. We prepare and state certify teams involved in narcotics and explosives detection, tracking, patrol, and general obedience.
City and county financial budgets often limit or exclude needed funding for K-9’s within their department. The PK9A® bridges the gap to cover K-9 related expenses to ensure our teams are equipped with the imperative items and training they need.

The Police K-9 Association is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit and charitable organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Our tax identification number is 34-1635486. To learn more about our organization, please visit https://policek9association.com/.
