Donate to build a kitchen for Dokolo girls school

Hello!

On the 29th of April I will be running my first marathon to raise money to build a kitchen at Dokolo girls school in Northern Uganda. I spent time at this secondary school whilst traveling in the country in October 2021. It is in a poor, remote area which does not prioritise girls' education, despite it being the most instrumental means of emancipation for them.

Being in the bush there is little job opportunities beyond farming which does not provide a lot of income. Most of the parents cannot afford the school fees so supply produce instead. This means that there is no excess income to invest in the school. The feeble kitchen they use to have blew down in a storm so currently they are having to cook outside on camp fires. I hope to raise enough money to build a kitchen block equipped with solar panels and a rocket stove.

The charity I will be doing this through is called Helping Uganda Schools (HUGS). I am a trustee of it and it is very close to my heart. They do amazing work to help deprive children get an education.
