Prince Walker-Ayeni was stabbed to death on Raby Street in Moss Side on Thursday 4 April 2024.
In the days following his death, flowers and candles from friends, families, and neighbours have been placed along the railings of Millennium Park, near where Prince was stabbed.
Message from the family:
On Thursday 4th April 2024, we heard the most devastating news no-one ever wants to hear, that our prince's life was cut short due to knife crime in the community, this has caused a lot of upset and hurt to many people including family, friends, workers, and many others who loved Prince.
This was also days before his 18th Birthday, which was on the 9th April 2024, the whole community came out to do a balloon release in memory of Prince on Friday 5th April 2024, then on the 9th April 2024, we did a Birthday tribute and celebration for his 18th near the spot where he died.
The community has been supportive and have showed the family soo much love, the family appreciates it, the family is currently torn by the death of Prince and is pleading with the community, families and young people to help put a stop to knife crime, there is lots of work ongoing and will be happening to support this campaign.

As we continue to reflect on this sad occasion, we are also doing a nine night on Sunday 14th April 2024, to celebrate Prince's life.
Nine days after someone dies, you come together, have a celebration, share food and play music. If the person was particularly religious, there might be prayers and hymns. Everybody turns up, they speak about the person and share stories.

As you can imagine, a funeral can cost a lot of money, the family has been informed that the cost will be around: £10,000
To have to worry about funeral costs for your child shouldn’t be something anyone has to think about, and at such a heart wrenching time there aren’t any words that can help but we hope that maybe this can support in some way. If you can donate any money, we know the family would be forever grateful.
The target is set at the average cost of a UK funeral so we’re hoping to try and get to this if possible. We understand it’s a hard time for financially for all families and businesses at the moment, but anything you can spare will be hugely appreciated and hopefully make the process less stressful for the family.
