Please help me end 30 years of pain!!!

Don protégé

Hello,

My name is Babette Motley. My family and I were all born & raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. My family and I moved to Lewiston, Idaho, back on July 2, 2010. When I was 15 years old, I was hit in an auto-pedestrian accident along with 4 other people (2 were my cousins) back on the evening of July 6th, 1995. This happened as we were walking onto the blacktop of a Sonics Drive-In. There were two cars involved, but the person(s) that caused the accident fled the scene. I flew over the car and landed right next to the big Sonics Drive-In sign that was surrounded by small bushes. I sustained deep lacerations and abrasions all over my body, but my main injuries were to my face. There happened to be a raised concrete utility box under the bushes where I landed. I broke my nose in 2 places, crushed my right cheek & lower orbital bone, my lower jaw, and crushed my top 4 front teeth into my gumline. All of my teeth shifted back, which happened to impact my 4 wisdom teeth as well. After being discharged from the hospital after an almost 2 week stay, I was set up to see an oral surgeon regarding my mouth a week later. That day, he had to remove all 8 teeth along with all of the crushed bone. I was not sedated, so I was very much alert and felt everything. I was strapped to a chair, and the surgeon put something inside my mouth so I couldn't bite down.

There used to be a popular tv show called Rescue 911. Their production crew happened to be in Las Vegas that summer because there had been a high rate of children drowning to death. So, they happened to hear over their CB Radio that there were 5 kids involved in an auto-pedestrian accident. They immediately rushed to the scene. Typically, this show aired reenactment of their cases that they worked on. Since they were able to arrive at the scene, they got a lot of raw footage of us being medically assessed and loaded on gurneys for transport to the University Medical Centers Trauma Unit. You can get access to watching it through YouTube under Rescue 911 Vegas Kids. I attached a link to the video at the bottom for easier access. Over the past 30 years, my teeth have gradually deteriorated. I'm in pain daily. I'm having oral surgery next week on December 18th by the surgeon, Dr. Sherdon Cordova on December 18th to remove my 22 teeth. He will also have to use cadaver bone to scaffold the missing bone throughout my mouth. I will have to wait for at least 6 months before I can be fitted for a full set of dentures. I want my mouth to be fully healed so that the swelling and shrinkage are completely healed. I want the best possible fit for when I get fitted for my new teeth. I have private insurance through my husband's work that, unfortunately, doesn't cover oral surgery. So, we have to pay all of this ourselves. I have a close estimate of the cost of everything. My oral surgeons fees will cost roughly $7,500. The surgery center will cost roughly $3,000. My new dentures will cost roughly $2,800. This fundraiser is to help raise funds so I can get some much needed dental work. The current state of my teeth has severely deteriorated which has me in excruciating pain to do anything. Please consider donating to help me get the treatment I so desperately need. Thank you in advance. For anyone who can and those that can't due to personal reasons, we understand completely. We will also take all your heartfelt prayers for a smooth recovery with little to no complcations would also be very welcome. This would take a tremedous load off of our finances as our private insurance will not help pay for any of the out of pocket cost.

Editors note:

I just want to thank each and every person who has graciously donated towards my oral surgery coming next week. Please just know that this means the world to me and my family as every dollar will help relieve the hardship that this much needed surgery will cost us. I'm truly humbled by such kindness that you all have sent our way. I pray that you and your families are not struggling to make ends meet. If you can't donate, please just keep me in your prayers when I have my surgery on Wednesday, December 18th, so that my surgery goes well and I have a speedy recovery. My wish is for you and your families have the best holiday season together.

Editor's note:

I just had my surgery on Wednesday, December 18th. The surgery itself went well for the most part. The recovery has been a rough adjustment as I have been in quite a deal of pain. I wished that I would've been in a position to get the denture implants, as that would've been the best option with the longest guarantee, but would cost nearly $100,000 for top and bottom. However, due to finances, I had to go with the basic plan which was to pull the 20 teeth, heal for 6 months, then get my new set of dentures made after I was done healing to get the best fit. I will be forever grateful to everyone who donated and also all the kind people that have kept me in your prayers. Thanks again for every donation as it helps take some of the burden off of our shoulders.
