Don's Medical Fee Donations

Donation protected
As many of you know, Don was diagnosed with acute leukemia in December. He had extremely weird symptoms like random blood clots, swollen eyes and excessive dryness of the mouth. After a couple days of these symptoms, we urged him to go make an appointment at the doctor. Being that it was a primary care, they thought it might have been allergies and it would take a couple of days for them to get back the blood work. The next day, he woke up with blood on his tongue and went to the emergency room. From there they drew his blood and knew what it was. He was immediately admitted and spent a little over three weeks in the hospital. They started him on chemo the next day to start fighting the cancer and regularly set up blood transfusions and platelets everyday to help replenish what he was lacking. It has been an absolute whirlwind of hospital stays, medications, chemotherapy and blood transfusions.

You could imagine the shock everyone has been in since December. What has only been a month and a half feels like multiple months. Don is an athletic director at a school and relatively in good shape. He’s very active with the kids and not only runs the athletic program but also serves as a PE Coach. He’s played a part in so many kids lives as he’s served at the school for 15+ years! Never in a million years would we have guessed that this would have happened. We have no traces of leukemia on his side of the family, so we were all taken aback. Everything has been moving so fast that sometimes it’s still hard to wrap your mind around it.

It’s been a month+ of an aggressive chemo regimen and by the grace of God, he has been responding well. There are still about 3 months to go of chemo before we can know what’s next. We are continuing to believe that he is healed and that God is going to work and turn this situation around for good like only he can. But we need your help! Hospital stays, medications, chemo, MRIs, blood transfusions, bone marrow tests and spinal taps all start to add up. While having health insurance has been a great help to cover some of the costs, it doesn’t cover all. The amounts are starting to add up and these are essential to get him back to where he needs to be.

So we ask as a family to please help us help Don get back on his feet. As he’s been there for so many people in their lives and have encouraged and pushed them to be the best, this is our time to step up and be there for him.

Any little bit counts and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for what you can do.
