Support Don and Alicia in Restoring Their Home

Donation protected
My name is Ashley and I am grateful to have the privilege of knowing Don and Alicia, who have been residents of Todos Santos for more than 22 years. Don has been my property manager and friend for the past 3 years, and I must say he is one of the most compassionate and caring individuals I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.

I have decided to create a GoFundMe page to provide support for them in the daunting task of rebuilding their property after the devastating fires that recently occurred. In times like these, I firmly believe that as a community, we should come together to share our love and resources when they are needed the most. Don and Alicia are in need of our help, and I am confident that, with our collective support, they will be able to overcome this hardship.

More details about their story and their plans for utilizing the funds can be found below.

Don and Alicia, have had the pleasure of calling Todos Santos their home for the past 22 years. Over the years, they have transformed their large property in Las Brisas into a true paradise. They even ran the beloved Café D'licia for 9 years, serving delicious food that was enjoyed by many in the community. However, due to Alicia's health issues, they had to close the café, and Don has since been working as a property manager, though he had to reduce the number of properties he oversees.

Unfortunately, their income has significantly decreased, barely covering their expenses and leaving them vulnerable to unforeseen tragedies like the recent fire. The fire, which was started by arson, began on the night of Friday the 12th and resulted in four more fires due to smoldering debris. The final fire occurred early Sunday morning, completely destroying their storage trailer. This was the fifth time that the Todos Santos Volunteer Fire Department had to intervene to prevent the fire from spreading to the surrounding vegetation.

Their main goal now is to prevent future fires that could potentially spread to neighboring areas and properties. Their property is bordered on three sides by wild areas with abundant debris and vegetation that could easily fuel fires.

To achieve this goal, they have outlined a plan:
1. Trim the dead leaves off all remaining Washingtonian palms and other palms near the fence line in the arroyo.
2. Clean up any areas that were not burned to reduce the risk of future fires.
3. Trim the vegetation along both sides of the perimeter fence line to create a fire break.
4. Remove all debris, including the 50 burned Washingtonian palms, numerous other trees, and vegetation from the burned areas.
5. Eliminate the remains of the burned-out storage trailer.
6. Prune the large eucalyptus trees on the property and in the arroyo that are located along the fence line.
7. Haul away all debris.

Additionally, they would like to make a generous donation to the fire department as a token of appreciation for their prompt responses and dedication to protecting the community.

Your support in helping Don and Alicia rebuild their property and prevent future fires would be greatly appreciated.
