D.R. Covid-19 Relief

Nearly 1/2 of the Dominican Republics population — more than 3 million people — are expected to contract the Coronavirus (Covid-19).

More than 6.3 million live in extreme poverty — with no access to basic human rights such as medical supplies or medicine.

1 million children countrywide are living in poverty. According to UNICEF, 22,000 children are predicted to die each day due to Coronavirus (Covid-19).

5 million people countrywide do not have enough food to eat during the emergency. Food banks are especially important in providing food for people that can’t afford it themselves and unfortunately in these times, many NGO's and Non-Profits from the United States have retreated during this outbreak.

More than 750 thousand people lack adequate access to clean drinking water. Coronavirus (Covid-19) caused by inadequate drinking water, sanitation, and hand hygiene will kill an estimated 842,000 people by the end of the year, or approximately 2,300 people per day

As of January 2021, we project that 25 thousand children under 1 year of age will not receive any precautionary action against Coronavirus (Covid-19).

1/4 of all Dominicans live without electricity — approximately 1.6 million people.

Oxfam estimates that it would take $60 million annually to end Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the Dominican Republic.
--that's less than 1/4 the income of the top 100 richest Americans.

The World Food Programme says, “The poor are hungry and their hunger traps them in poverty.” Coronavirus (Covid-19).
is projected to become number one cause of death in the Dominican Republic, killing more than HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined.

At a time in which dozens of Non-Profit Organizations have turned their back to those who need it most, our goal is to raise funds to help provide the most basic human rights to those living in poverty in the Dominican Republic.

WHAT WE PLAN TO DO:

1 . Feed the children. We are currently working without partners at Vuelos.do (The #1 flight booking agency in the Dominican Republic) as well as Sturmernews.com in order to meet our goals.

We plan on travelling the nation to bring canned goods to different neighborhoods throughout the country, providing struggling families with canned goods, bags of rice, as well as other essentials such as bleach, and face mask.

2. Cash assistance for the homeless. Unfortunately, very few homeless shelters exist in the Dominican Republic. For that we will document ourselves travelling the streets of very impoverished neighborhoods to pass out hot meals as well as Dominican pesos to the homeless who have no where else to go. We also plan on providing them with small bottoms of bleach, hand sanitizer,  and clean donated clothing.

3. Providing animal shelters with scrap meat and food to get stray dogs off of the streets. In a nation where people normally receive less then $240 dollars a month for a salary,  many impoverished people are becoming desperate and are eating stray dogs from the streets. It is sad to say but this is the harsh reality of the third world nations. *Note this is not a common occurrence and it only happening under extreme situations, such as the Coronavirus (Covid-19).  crisis we are facing now.*

We would like to thank our sponsors at www.vuelos.do and sturmernews.com for making this possible!

Everybody make sure you stay quarantined and wash your hands often, as many people do not have the privilege to do so.
