My name is Ebenezer Norman, and I am the founder of NDHOPE, located in Denver, Co. My mission is to give children in less fortunate countries unlimited opportunities through education. In 2015 my team and I opened our first school in Troyah town Liberia for 102 kids. It was a free school, and it served as a beacon of hope. One year later, that school and entire village got demolished over a land dispute.
When I heard the news, I became deeply distressed. So for one year, I took a break and wanted to give up on my dream of building schools for underprivileged children in developing countries. Many nights I wrestled with the thought of giving up, but as a child, I was told the world was counting on me to change it. I thought about those 102 children that were once invisible and became visible when the school was built with each of them having big dreams. Some wanted to be doctors, some lawyers, few teachers and others wanted to be humanitarians. Remembering this, I became more motivated and committed to helping all of their dreams come to fruition.
My team and I went back to Liberia, and this time we purchased the land rather than having the land gifted to us. It was also important to make sure we have support from the local government; we did! We started the construction of a new school that will seat 1000 children, ten times more children we had at our first school.
We have made major strides, but we cannot do it alone. We live together in a world that is in great need of healing and transformation. All we need a just person who is selfless to make the healing and transformation possible. That one acts of selfless, inspire others to make selfless choices as well.
Our story is one of resilience. We all have setbacks in our lives and to get back on track sometimes we just need a little bit of help. The funds generated will help us finish the first phase of our project, building, and roofing of the school.
