Doktor Faux and the Slackwagon
HEY KIDS! It's your pal Doktor Argus Q. Faux, from Hypercube Labs and the Church of the SubGenius.
You may have heard that I had a hand in getting X-Day off the ground this year, which was a phenomenal exercise in patience and time-control. Working with volunteers can be a lot like herding cats, but working with SubGenius volunteers can be like herding deaf-cats with adult ADD in the rain. AND, BOY, DID IT RAIN!
You may have also heard about an unfortunate run-in I had with a large truck last-year which has resulted in the *one vehicle* my wife and I use for work, errands and commuting our little SubGenius child to-and-from Papa Faux's house. Needless to say, the car is falling apart and the funds I would've used to either fix it, or get a new vehicle went into X-Day 2021.
I don't regret it, every penny spent was WORTH IT!
But NOW the Resort wants us back 3-4 times a year for weekend Devivals, bonanza's and hoot-nannies. And between me and the other local organizer, Fidd Chewley... we ain't got no wheels!
So we are asking for more of your hard-earned money, to not only help me out in getting back-and-forth from the grocery store but also to ensure that we have a solid backbone when it comes to transporting gear and personnel to the campground in Land O' Lakes and back to the Hypercube Labs satellite warehouse in Orlando.
X-Day was not the only drain on my resources, I lost **the best job I've EVER had** as covid started, and the business has not only closed but been BULLDOZED to the ground. We've exhausted my unemployment and our savings staying on top of rent and utilities. It's going to be a while before I find a slackful job with such good pay again, so anything donated towards here will help.
I'm not expecting anything here, but several people have offered to donate to help us recoup and this seems like the best option. PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH TO THE P.O. BOX, if you'd like to help: checks and money orders are MUCH SAFER. Yes, I have a bank account, it's not a big deal for me to drop shit off. And if you don't have a dime to spare, I FLIPPIN' GET IT!
