Help me get my non profits feet on the ground!!!!!!!!
Passion Sports Ministry is my idea for a traveling basketball team/organization who's mission is to help young athletes find, and maintain a healthy passion for life, and their sport, as well as guide them to a successful future by the means of Jesus Christ.
We will provide personal training for players as well as tutoring, traveling, and faith growing opportunities. We will also work to help change difficult living situation for players families, and provide transportation to and from tournaments and practices for kids who wouldn't have the opportunity to play if it wasn't provided. This will also be a completely free experience for kids in need.
I currently have about 6k from private investors, but in order to pay employees and cover expenses will need over 50k to have a successful Year of business. Please become a part of the blessing.
I've been coaching basketball with this goal in mind for the past 3 years, now finally having all the pieces in place, should be up and running as an official in corporation, with in the next few weeks. Until then we will still be practicing and training for are first tournament on July 10th.
All this has been made possible through the means of basketball, and GOD. I found a group of kids that were very dedicated, hardworking, and passionate about basketball. They inspired me to restore my relationship with Christ, because of their desire for, and lack of positive role models in life. Then about 2 years ago I ended up leaving my paid coaching position at New Buffalo High School. With 7 years coaching experience, I could have probably gotten a paid job anywhere, but decided to volunteer coach their school team who's funding had been cut, and wouldn't have had a team that year. This is also the same school I have taught as a Special Ed paraprofessional for the past 3 years .
We continued for two years of 5th & 6th grade Elementary school basketball. By the second season the boys were coming to practices at 6:30am every morning to do homework, and practice for an hour and forty five minutes. This transitioned to two a days for the last two months, with after school practice lasting an hour. Our season lasted a span of 6 months, and the kids enjoyed them selves while maintaining a C grade average in order to play in games. It was difficult and towards the end some kids ended up quiting.(I had 30 kids both years, and got intarigqted by the boys every practice I cancelled).
This has all inspired me to continue to coach the boys that are still interested in playing, and help them in there life goals to become NBA players. I plan to do this through intense personal training, tutoring, creating opertunities for them to be leaders/mentors, and creating a traveling team that would compete with other talented teams all around the country every summer until they graduate high school. We would also do study trips and other cool ventures as long as the players earned the experience with good grades, and community service hours. After this I will help assist them in selecting a college that's a perfect fit for them, and continue to personal train them in their off seasons.
I would love to continue to do this, and I become more passionate every day about what I do, but I also have a life, expenses, and a wonderful girlfriend I would like to propos to some day. With a curent salary of less than 15k it's difficult to maintain, and invest more time and money into the cause, while juggling jobs, and coaching for free.
If I can get my feet on the ground with one good year of business, and find a gym to practices out of, we can revenue from open gyms for the public, and hosting tournaments. Which will take the proper networking, and marketing, which also cost money to have done. I would like to run this organization properly, and successfully so please help me do just that.
