Doing it for Stu

Donation protected

Hello Everyone :)

As you may or may not know my wonderful brother, Stuart Bathers, was diagnosed with a Grade 4, Glioblastoma Brain Tumour on the 22nd January 2021.

We are now 5 months into our journey and my brother is fighting the biggest battle he has ever had to fight. I could not be a prouder sister. He is my inspiration and he has ALWAYS been there (yes ok he loved practicing his WWF wrestling on me when we were younger and thought it was funny to practice a karate chop on my nose, but what are brothers for ey)?

Most of all he is not fighting this fight alone - he has his wonderful family and wonderful friends right behind him, backing him all the way. All the support Stu is receiving is giving him even more strength to win this battle.

This is where I come in :)

Since the 22nd January Stu's family and friends have been doing endless research as even though we have the most AMAZING NHS, we found out very early on that apart from the normal standard of care (SOC) there are no further treatment options for Glioblastomas.

Recently, we have received some news which has given us hope and that is that CeGat (a pioneering centre in Germany) are now underway with designing Stu a personalised neopeptide vaccine which trains his T-cells (immune system), to attack and destroy his peptides (cancer cells). This in itself comes at an extremely high cost. Stuart's amazing Doctor in London is also looking at alternative treatments for him to start as soon as possible whilst we wait for the vaccine to be developed, however these again are not cheap.

To enable Stuart the treatment he needs imminently, myself and a group of friends are going to walk for 18 miles (in one day) dressed as super hero's (yup!!). As cheesy as it is - it's because Stuart is quite literally my super hero. I cannot remember the last time I did any exercise, so I am going to need to put in A LOT of walking practice, but we are all doing it for Stu!

Glioblastomas are one of THE most horrific diseases, which before the 22nd January 2021 we knew nothing about. However through our research we now know that Brain Tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40, yet only 3 % of the £700m+ spent on cancer research a year in the UK goes towards brain tumours!

Today my brother turns the BIG 40!!! So I cannot think of a better day to launch this go fund me page for him.

Stuart is my only brother, I love him more than he will ever know and I need him to be here with me for the rest of our lives.

Stuart - we love you so much
