Doggie Daycare for First Responders

Donation protected
My name is Kathy Miller, I am a local Torrance resident, born and raised in the South Bay. I am also a Torrance small business owner. My company is a franchise called Dogtopia of South Bay. We are a modern doggie daycare, boarding and spa facility that opened our doors in July.   Dogtopia of South Bay has been categorized by the City of Torrance as an "essential business" as we are here to help our community with caring for pups while working long shifts for our first responders, working from home, homeschooling our children and caring for an ill family members. To keep our staff and pet parents safe we offer curb side drop off and pick up and equip our staff with protective equipment such as gloves and masks.

Although we are an essential business, I have made the difficult decision to close for a couple of weeks in order to help our community and the well being of my awesome staff.  Also, as a new small business it has been very difficult to maneuver through this pandemic financially.

This week, I had a customer contact me, she is a nurse at our local hospital. She said she had just finished a very long shift and asked if she could she drop off her dog for daycare. She desperately needed some sleep and her pup needed some socialization and exercise as he was home alone for 12 hours. I told her sadly we are closed in an effort  to flatten the curve. She appreciated why we were closed but said... I need help! It definitely got me thinking and now I am more determined than ever to do what I can to help our first responders and their pups!

After reaching out to our local hospitals with this idea, the response was overwhelming! I was told by a Director of Communications "we would be grateful to you for offering this donation to our pet-loving caregivers".

Dogtopia of South Bay is proud to offer our community a chance to "Fetch it Forward " by sponsoring doggie daycare to support our first responders who are working long hours and need help caring for their pups. For reference 1 day of daycare is $38 a 1 night of boarding is $58.  Dogtopia of South Bay will provide gift certificates to our local hospitals for any medical staff that needs help in this area. This could also resurrect my small business and get my staff of 15 back to work with their furry friends!

With your help, we can give our heroes a chance to get much needed  rest between shifts without the worry of their #bfff (best furry friend forever) being home alone for hours AND get the socialization and exercise they need. By participating in this go fund me you will help first responders and their pups and as well those that depend on me to keep my business afloat. I sincerely appreciate any donation of any size so that we may support our community in these uncharted times.
